What is Colonic Irrigation?
Colonic hydrotherapy (colonic irrigation) is a procedure that introduces a gentle infusion of warm filtered water into the large intestine (colon). Colon hydrotherapy treatments cleanse the colon of old faecal matter, toxins, gas and mucous. Warm filtered water is infused by a state-of-the-art system via a small and disposable, PENCIL SIZED sterile rectal tube.
The soothing effect of introducing warm filtered water gently into the colon via the rectum assists in expelling the contents of the lower bowel during your session. The flow and temperature of the warm filtered water is regulated by Jayne, Advanced qualified colon hydrotherapist throughout your treatment.
Why should I have colonic irrigation?
An individual can carry 1kg-10kg of old faecal matter in their colon. A healthy colon is essential to a healthy body. Modern dietary habits and modern lifestyles can consist of consuming highly refined and processed foods, high in saturated fats and low in natural fibre, which all contribute to a multitude of bowel disorders and subsequent health problems.
Poor elimination of waste products from the body can add up to a toxic environment within the bowel. A toxic environment can occur within the large colon contributing to a large number of toxic related health problems. It is comparable to trying to have a clean and safe home whilst relying on inadequate drains and little or no refuse collection to help you achieve these goals. First the stagnant waste matter within the body becomes putrefied and releases toxins into the colon, which then in turn seep through the walls of the colon into the blood stream putting a strain on the whole body’s integrity including its immune system and internal organs such as the liver and kidneys making us feel tired, ill and weak.
Secondly, the colons ability to assimilate some important vitamins and minerals becomes impaired. Finally, the muscular activity of the colon is reduced significantly, leading to constipation and bowel disorders.
Courses of colon hydrotherapy, quickly, effectively and safely assists the body expel large quantities of old toxic faecal matter and other waste materials from the body, greatly enhancing the condition of the entire body, leading to a healthier wellbeing and better quality of life.
The Open System Colonic? whats the difference in the colonic systems out there today.....
There are many key differences the unique technique that only at the Hydrocleanse clinic utilise. One key difference between the "open" method of colonic hydrotherapy and the "closed" method of colonic hydrotherapy are the size of the speculums that are used during the treatment. Open systems only use very small, disposable, pencil thin, sterile speculums, which (if desired) can be self inserted. Our clients report time and time again on how comfortable and reassuring this is.
A second difference between the open method of colonic hydrotherapy and the closed method of colonic hydrotherapy, is that the open method of colonic hydrotherapy allows clients to release the warm water along with the toxic contents of the lower bowel comfortably and naturally at a gentle rate to suit ones own comfort and needs. both methods provide a safe way to cleanse the bowel of toxins, it simply comes down to a clients personal choice of the size or “diameter” of the speculum or “tube” that the client prefers to have inserted into the rectum. If the size of the speculum or “tube” is of no concern, then both methods achieve a good colonic hydrotherapy treatment, however if during the colonic hydrotherapy treatment you would prefer a smaller diameter speculum to be used, the “open” system that we utilise at The Hydrocleanse detoxification & rejuvenation clinic enables our customers to benefit from this design difference.
There are no odours and the continual flow of highly purified warm water, all regulated by the trained therapist has a soothing and rehydrating effect to the body. This modern & dignified method is also a great stimulating workout for the bowel, helping to promote bowel muscle strength and tone.
Gentle massage can also be administered if required during the treatment and natural probiotic supplements can also be administered to increase the bowels friendly bacteria levels. (Please see our photo album for more info).
What can come through on a 'open system' colonic procedure?
One may see mucous, parasites and very old faecal material (noted by its dark black colour) pass through this tube. This old faecal material may have been lying in the patient’s colon for years. It looks like vulcanised rubber and has that kind of consistency. In addition, the patient may experience sensations of warmth due to the presence of toxins is the faeculent matter. There is a viewing tube should you wish to see, but not to worry if you don't you do not have to look, it is solely there for monitoring your cleanse.
Will a laxative accomplish the same result as a Colonic?
Laxatives empty the colon in the short term but are an irritant to the body. The body produces a thin watery substance that goes through the colon and leaves behind impacted toxins and waste. Colon hydrotherapy uses pure water and does not irritate the body. In contrast to laxatives, it actually hydrates the body.
How many daily movements does a healthy bowel have?
A healthy bowel may have two to three bowel movements daily, depending on what you eat.
Is colon hydrotherapy different from enemas?
Enemas are good to clean out the sigmoid and rectal areas of the colon, which extend to about 1ft. A series of colon-hydrotherapy treatments can clean out and remove impacted material from the whole colon which is around 5 1/2 ft long. Additionally, colon hydrotherapy promotes peristalsis (a movement of the bowel) and helps the colon muscles regain natural tone therefore assisting the return of regular bowel movements.
